Last June 30, 2023, our Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Fernando Cornejo led his first Votive Mass in honor of the Holy Family.
In his homily, Fr. Fhyrdz emphasized that kindness, patience, and gestures, everything that we do is for the glory of God.
“Kindness is more than being nice, kindness goes beyond merely being nice.”
It’s not just about being nice. We need to be good, prudent, generous, and kind. Simple acts of kindness can be seen and done by passing someone's fare in a jeepney and a mother cooking for her children. However, there can be a lack of sincerity in just being nice. As much as possible, we must often do something sincerely.
He also pointed out that every year, besides our primary prayers to God, such as good health and prosperity, we also seek lots of patience. Since patience teaches us to be mindful of our attitude toward others, to accept our faults, and learn to apologize to whoever we may be at fault.
Lastly is a gesture. A simple gesture towards people who struggles in life, such as words of assurance, or a pat on their back has a huge impact on them. Since those people who struggle are reminded that someone empathizes with them.
Before Fr. Fhyrdz ended his homily, he reminded everyone to do everything with love. Even if it is tiring and not acknowledged by others because this dictates who we are.
