Words are Powerful - Fr. Delatado

The 5th Misa de Gallo in preparation for the Nativity of the Lord was presided over by our Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Ferdinand Delatado.

“Words are powerful.”

In the Gospel, Archangel Gabriel brought news to Mary. He said to her to not be afraid and rejoice because she will bear the son of God.

“The word of God brings joy to those who are lonely and hopeless.”

Words, no matter how simple it is, can cause a great change in others. For instance, if we say something good to others, it gives them courage. Hence, it’s imperative to choose the words to say to others. Because words can destroy nor can make a person.

He encourages everyone to not be selfish in sharing compliments with others.

Fr. Ferdie also shared three important words that we can say to compliment others. Words that we must not forget to mention to those we love and value.

“Have that attitude of gratitude.”

The first word is ‘thank you’, thank the people who are part of your life, those who helped you, and gave you courage. In this way, you acknowledge and appreciate their effort.

“Ask for forgiveness and learn to forgive.”

The second word is ‘forgive’. Oftentimes this word is difficult to say because of our pride. However, there isn't a person who died because they lowered their pride. Therefore, if you want to be free from resentment and draw the thorn out of your heart: ask and learn to forgive.

“Always express your love.”

The third and last word is ‘I love you’. How good are these words to be heard, let your loved ones hear it from you and never surfeit to tell this to them. Though not everyone dares to say it to their loved ones there are numerous ways to let them know how you love and cherish them. You must express how you love that person.

As he ended his homily, he reminded everyone that these simple words have a profound effect on us – on those who say and hear them. It can change their lives, thus don’t get tired of praising others.
