For the sixth day of Simbang Gabi, the mass presider was our parish priest Rev. Fr. Ferdinand C. Delatado.
Fr. Ferdie pointed out the difference between being responsible and being accountable. He said that you can be responsible but not accountable, but when you are accountable, you should be responsible. There are things that when you’ve decided already, you can’t take back your decision. If you’ve made a wrong decision, you can’t run from it. You’re already accountable that’s why you’re given the responsibility to decide well.
Just like in the gospel for today, Mary showed a good example of being responsible. She travelled for one week to Elizabeth’s home even though she didn’t asked for Mary’s help. Mary visited her on her because she faces difficulty in being pregnant. It is a sign of being responsible because Mary is helping her, not because she needed help, but because Elizabeth is her relative and she wants to see and help her.
He also stated in his homily that every time we wake up in the morning, it is already considered as a blessing, that’s why we should always seize the opportunity to help other people in need because as the lyrics of a song goes, we are all responsible for one another.
