The 2nd Advent-Marian Recollection Concert led by our parish priest, Father Ferdinand Delatado last Saturday.
The program started with the lighting of the giant Christmas tree led by Fr. Ferdie and the
Pastoral Council followed by the recollection concert. Holy Family Grand Choir sang some songs in the advent and Marian Season such as Halina Hesus, Magnificat, Stella Maris, and Inang Mahal. Fr. Ferdie had a special number singing "You are my Sunshine and Let it be. Brother Jethro and Alvin joined Father singing Ang Munting Sanggol, O Holy Night, and Sana ngayong Pasko.
Our guest speaker Mr. Michael Angelo Lobrin talked about the happiest season of the church; the advent season. Do we understand the season? A lot of us don't. When its advent season, the first thing that comes to our mind is the second part. We are being kind whenever theres a season.
The first part of advent is preparing for the second coming. We are getting ready for the coming of the lord. One day the lord will come and get us. Life is short. There is joy in the season of advent.
The word advent comes from the latin word "Advenire" which means; the arrival, the coming. We are waiting for something.
He also reminded the parish workers to know that they have much more heavy responsibility and be modest.
There is joy in the gospel of the lord. He wants to see the smile in our faces. The season of advent is season of love.
The church does not belong to the popes, to the bishops, priests, and to the lay people. The church only belongs to Christ and because it belongs to Christ, Christ will defend the church.
The first blessing in the season of advent is humility; be humble, second is the season of gratitude; be grateful. Why many people being a trickster? This is the people who always counts the things what they don't have. If you want to be happy, don't count things that you don't have but those things that you have. Because you are alive.
Its easy to be happy when you don't have problems. We all have some challenges in life, and the best thing to do is just pass through it don't let it through yourself for a long time because the lord is bigger than our problems. Last but not the least, focus on Jesus. The true protagonist is not the speaker, parish priest, performers, nor us its none other than Jesus himself.
The second part of the advent season commemorate the first coming.
There are four candles of advent; violet symbolizes penance and pink which symbolizes Gaudete Sunday or Sunday of Joy. When the candles lit its our cue for the very much awaited season of the church the 'simbang gabi'.
The 'simbang gabi is not the time to ask for something for but a season to get ready. Preparing for monumental mystery. The reminder of the Lord to us is be humble, grateful, focus and look to the lord. If we accomplish it, we will be a good person. Don't let go to the lord even if we let go to him, he'll never let go of us.
