“Where will our feet take us and what kind of service will we do?”
This Maundy Thursday, the mass of the Lord’s supper was celebrated. Many parishioners were present along with the Knights of Columbus who portrayed the 12 apostles of Jesus. The mass was led by the parish priest Father Ferdinand Delatado.
“Among all of the body parts that a person has, why did Jesus wash the apostles’ feet?”
For the Jews, the feet symbolises the whole personality and character of a person. Back then, only a servant washes the feet of other people. Because of his undying love, Jesus chose to become a servant and humble because he wanted to leave a good example when serving the Lord.
According to Fr. Ferdie, the story of the apostles can be related to everyone. Despite having their feet washed, they still betrayed, surrendered to fear, and hid from God.
“We are blessed with feet not just for the sake of going to different places. Except, we have feet because there is somewhere that we are needed to be to meet Christ.”
Everyone should stand up for the truth and carry the cross of Jesus. Do not use your feet to kick and step on other people. Instead, keep it on the ground and remain humble. Our feet are meant to bring the good news of the Lord and leave the footsteps of Christ.
“There are different kinds of feet but whatever it is, there is nothing that Jesus can’t wash. Let us be like him when serving the Lord and follow His decisions in our lives.”
