The parish celebrated its 24th Dedication Anniversary. The mass was presided yesterday by our parish priest Reverend Father Ferdinand C. Delatado.
Fr. Ferdie explained that the candles on the pillars of the church were lighted before the mass started because the bishop oiled its pillars when the church was dedicated.
In his homily, he recounted the events on how the parish started; how it was built, who helped built it and the people behind the success of building the parish.
He said that the church is full of stories. Before Holy Family became a parish, it was under the Immaculate Conception Parish as a chapel. The chapel was located at Lapu-Lapu (B.G. Molina). Fr. Ferdie also recounted that the land where the church was built was first a factory of pans before the parishioners decided to raise funds and build the main Church there.
The parishioners envisioned a big church because they were already prepared for the future. There were problems that they encountered like lack of funds, but the Lord sent instruments to make the building of the church possible. With the help of different people, the planned church was built together with the convent, priest house, formation center and later on, the retablo mayor and the columbary.
Our history becomes His story because in the journey of the parish, Christ is always there. Not only did we let Christ enter the church, but we also let Him enter in our lives. The story of our life will not be worthless if Christ is within.
