A guest priest from the Canossian Son of Charity, Rev. Fr. Mateo Suarez, celebrated the fourth day of Simbang Gabi tonight in the parish.
He stated in his homily the difference between mystery and miracle. Fr. Mateo said that when a woman of early age or a virgin became pregnant like Mary, it is called a mystery, but when a woman of old age became pregnant like Elizabeth, it is called a miracle.
He also pointed out the difference between Joseph and Zacharias when they knew their partners were pregnant. Joseph chose to be quiet about it even though he knew that he is not the real father of Jesus. Instead, he just obeyed the will of God while in the case of Zacharias, God chose to make him quiet because he didn’t believe it. Zacharias knew it was impossible for Elizabeth to be pregnant because she was not fertile and she’s already very old. But then, this didn’t became a hindrance for him to believe the will of God.
In our daily lives, we all encounter different kinds of problems and hardships, but instead of being aggressive, we always choose to be quiet about it and pray that we will survive all the problems.
