This last Sunday of December, we are celebrated the feast of the Holy Family. They are the role model of families and communities. As we know, family is the basic unit of a community. If the families are well organized and peaceful, the church, community, city, and country will be as well.
Bishop Francisco M. De Leon led the Fiesta Mass. In his homily, he told the faithful that each one of us has imperfections. Even if we strive to be a better person, we cannot avoid committing mistakes and have imperfections. This is why we should give each other allowances and be understanding. Let us forgive. Forgiveness is a thing that is very important to us, Catholics. It is not impossible to forgive because God forgave us, despite our redundant sins. We should not forget that Jesus told us to forgive everyone who deserves to be forgiven.
Let's be kind to every member of our family, mostly to our parents. To all parents, remember to not hurt your children's feeling too much for it can affect the way that they think, causing them to feel weak. A good person is a good thinker. We are more than we speak than we do, so we need to take care of people than we are, if we want to treat them better.
A loving relationship should also exist between the parents and children. Parents shouldn't curse or say bad words to their children while children should always obey their mother and father. We should also love, serve, and give care to our parents and not leave them if they are old.
Lastly, parents and children should listen and obey the Lord. Let us have Joseph as our role model who obeyed the angel that the Lord send in his dreams. This is why we should grab the opportunity of the feast of the Holy Family and reflect with our family if we have the characteristics of a good family that was read from the 1st and 2nd readings.
The beginning of the Festival
Church workers from different ministries, organizations and pastoral communities wore their colorful costumes as they dance in honor of our patron, the Holy Family. Marikina City Mayor Marcelino Teodoro and his wife joined the Karakol Festival and procession of the Holy Family.
A concelebrated mass was held after the procession led by Monsignor Generoso Mediarito with our Parish Priest and some of the clergy of Antipolo. Before the mass ended, the Mister and Misis Maglabanan are the new Hermano and Hermana Mayor of the Parish.
The night of the Parish
Gabi ng Parokya was full of music, dancing and fun. Lay workers and parishioners won prizes from our Bingo Social. A man from C.M. Recto won a 55 inch smart TV from Stella Quimbo.
The festivities continued with the Karakol Dance Exhibition as church workers and members of the communities showed their creativity and skills. Holy Rosary Chapel won the third place, as Munting Kristo Sunday School won second place and San Lorenzo Ruiz Chapel was declared champions. The night ended with a bang as church workers watched a fire works display from our parish patio. Father Ferdie thanked everyone who joined the festivities.
