Rosary against evil

Updated: Oct 6, 2022

The rosary is a powerful weapon against evil forces.

Saint Pio of Pietrelcina (Padre Pio) and many other saints and popes have called it “a glorious weapon against Satan.” Therefore, when we pray the rosary, we join many people in a kind of spiritual chain, involving millions of Catholics all joined together in prayer. Linking or wills with the will of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and all of us saying to god, “Thy Will be Done.”

This corporate act of the will establishes a powerful presence in the world and acts as a spiritual buffer and antidote to the poison of evil.

Mother Mary has given us the rosary to conquer the devil. The invisible devil wins a lot of battles in our lives by invisibly controlling our imagination. It can raise lots of suggestive thoughts in our minds, which it usually resorts to all the time.

Obscene thoughts, delusions of grandeur, and wild ideas brought on by addiction to pornography or drugs are its usual ways of attacking our mentality. The devil really can implant thoughts in our minds, and these phantoms can sometimes lead to actions that are sinful, like masturbation, get-rich-quick schemes, fornication, revenge on our enemies, and slothfulness. However, when we freely lift up our minds to God through the rosary, that demonic link is broken.

Meditating on the holy rosary only takes about a quarter of an hour when the devil can’t insert its filth into our minds. But, by saying the rosary, we are meditating on scripture, which he dislikes. Thinking about the events in the lives of Jesus and Mary destroy his grasp in our imagination, and thus we become less open to his way of thinking that is the way of the world, the way of “if it feels good, do it,” the way of selfishness, and the way of conceited pride. In other words, the devil wants our bodies to drag our souls to hell.

The Holy Rosary, on the other hand, will motivate our souls to lift our bodies into heaven.

During this month of October, the Church reminds us to do the same as we are capable of.
