Pagninilay ni Sis. Christine Tecson
John 3:16-18 (NIV)
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.
If that is how God loves us so much, paano natin maibabalik itong pag-ibig na nararapat nating ibigay sa kanya?
The keyword: BELIEVE.
Yes, believe in Him.
It is said, “Whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
But the question is:
Is it enough to just say “I believe in God” only by our words, or let’s have the trending one, “Hindi Ako palasimba, pero naniniwala ako sa Dios.”?
Para sa akin, HINDI. Why? It’s because we are humans, and are capable of sinning. For many times, we might fall. Na kahit how much we strive hard not to sin, we still have our weaknesses. May mga pagkakataon pa ring manghihina tayo, manghihina ang ating kalooban, and the worst, we might have days that we question God why bad things happen in our lives.
To believe means to have a deeper faith in God. It requires more than just our words, it requires much actions. We should not tolerate our minds if we think going to church or attending the Holy Mass is not necessary as long as you believe that God exist. Jesus our Lord and Savior instituted the Holy Eucharist, it is one of His precious gifts to us, an expression of His unconditional love.
Same goes with our God, if we love Him and we know that He loves us much, then we must give the best love that we can offer to Him.
The gospel reminds us to believe in Him, for us not to perish. And may this faith within us will make us cling to God even more. Let us remind ourselves how much God loves us that He gave His only begotten Son. May we always take this precious love through the Holy Eucharist. Nawa’y patuloy pa rin ang ating pagsamba sa Kanya though we cannot attend mas inside the church physically. May we welcome this love into our homes and pass it on to our families as well as spread the same love to those who are far from us, and to those who we encounter in the social-media. May we have the same love and humility that our Mother Mary has as she accepts Jesus in her life.
Believe, Love, and Pray. Happy Trinity Sunday!
