Mary: A symbol of hope and opportunity

Last December 8th, Catholics observed the Solemnity of Immaculate Concepcion, a dogma by our Church asserting that Mary, the Mother of God was free from the original sin from the first instant of her conception.

Rev. Fr. Ferdinand Delatado led the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. He reminded everyone in his homily that this is a special day since it is commemorated as a holy day of obligation, where everyone is encouraged to attend a mass in observance of the Solemnity of Immaculate Concepcion.

“Mary was exceptional because of the mission given to her, to be the mother of the Lord.”

This is the blessing given to Mary, the privilege of not having sin. Therefore, it is only right that the Lord’s mother is without sin.

Fr. Ferdie also mentioned that similar to Mary, all mothers are special since they sacrificed a lot, from conceiving to birth, and raising their children. They sacrificed and did everything to provide comfort and tranquility, and shaped our lives.

Mary is a symbol of hope, and opportunity, and challenges everyone to live a holy life, to live without sin. An ability to change no matter how long the process is.

He advised everyone to continue to cherish Mary, our mother, and be like her. Let us be exemplars in the pattern of the actions that have been shown to follow God’s will.
