The first Dawn Mass in preparation for the Nativity of Our Lord was presided by Rev. Fr. Ferdinand Delatado.
He observed that whenever Christmas is just around the corner, the surroundings are getting brighter. The lanterns, Christmas lights, and Christmas trees are lit.
In his homily, he encouraged everyone to emulate John the Baptist. The bringer of light, a reminder to repent our sins and turn to God. A prophet who speaks the message of God to the people. He brings light to those who live in the darkness and sin.
“Let us be the lamp that carries the light of Christ.”
There are numerous places where light is scarce; in work, government, community, and in social media. We must be the light to these places since it doesn’t cost a penny. Moreover, being a light equates to being a bringer of truth. This world needs the truth to everything that they encounter as misleading.
“Maybe you just need to smile at people who are lonely and accompany those who are sad because of the pandemic we are going through.”
Fr. Ferdie urges everyone to discern the duty of ‘Basic Ecclesial Communities’ that as a community that gathers, integrates, and ponders about the word of God and how it molds us. We must address and solve our dilemmas as a church to make everyone feel that someone got their backs and to not feel alone at all.
Before he ended his homily, Fr. Ferdie reminded everyone that on this first day of Misa de Gallo to be a light that brings hope to those astray.
