"Are you ready to change?"
This year's Lenten Recollection by our parish priest, Rev. Fr. Ferdinand Delatado, challenges everyone to be a better person for the season of Lent.
"Was there a change in the Catholic church?"
One of the highlights of his talk was the discussion about the Synod of the Pope. It was a massive help in transforming the church to see its shortage and weaknesses and how we can respond to them.
We are currently in the continental stage of our Synodal journey, and as a church, we need to be aware of the circumstances that need to be addressed.
"Let us be grounded and see the journey and struggles of our brothers and sisters in need."
Fr. Ferdinand believes that if something symbolizes the churches in Asia, it would be the removal of shoes as a sign of respect. Whenever it is done, we are reminded of what God told Moses, awareness, and recognition of equality.
In the invitation to take off our shoes, we are also called to remove our prejudices and biases, and it will happen if we learn to humble ourselves.
Lastly, Fr. Ferdinand also shared the different experiences and priorities of Asian Resonance. From there, the Parishioners learned how they were harming the church's vocation and the actions needed to be done so that the house of the Lord could promote its advocacy and embrace more new members.
