Yesterday evening, December 29, 2022, the Third Triduum Mass was presided over by Fr. Nante Tolentino in preparation for the Feast of the Holy Family.
Fr. Nante began his homily by remarking on how the church had improved since his previous visit, becoming more attractive, organized, and pleasant to the eye. He noted that it is ablaze with lights, symbolizing the Christmas season.
"The traditional Misa de Gallo/Simbang Gabi signifies the beginning of the Filipino concept of the Christmas Season, which enlightens our Christmas spirits."
The Holy Gospel tells the story of Simeon, who patiently waits his entire life for the arrival of Jesus Christ, our Savior. This is a symbol of Simeon's unwavering trust and faith in Jesus to redeem Him. Upon seeing him, Simeon experienced genuine happiness.
He highlighted that unexpected things happen in life and a variety of issues will arise, such as during the pandemic when many individuals were infected by the coronavirus and some people lost loved ones. These occurrences result in people attempting suicide, which implies that their belief in God has been weakened.
However, there is a faith that was given by God for which everyone should be thankful since it provides strength and encourages people to strive every day. Everyone whose soul is shrouded in darkness will be illuminated by His light with this strong faith.
"Faith in Him is the purpose, strength, and life of being a Christian."
At the end of his homily, Father Nante reminded everyone to live life by God's plan, just like Mary, Joseph, and Simeon did. Everyone must constantly remember to have hope, as His love is unconditional.
