It is a tradition for Filipino Catholics to have Simbang Gabi or Misa de Gallo, a Novena to in preparation for the Nativity of Our Lord. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass for the first Simbang gabi was presided by Father Ferdinand Delatado.
As the number of generations multiplies, Fr. Ferdinand fears that the youth is also growing along with lies and not truths.
In His homily, he shared the ways or events in which people will know when they are camouflaging or lying to themselves.
When they are hiding something and a person changes so that the people around won’t discover it.
When they don’t accept themselves for who they are and they cannot admit to themselves that they are weak on something and not capable of everything.
When people do things just so they will look more superior to others.
It is frightening to think that lying is becoming such a normal thing to everyone which is why Fr. Ferdinand is challenging everyone to become like John the Baptist, who was truthful to himself and the Lord.
Be truthful and admit if you are sad, scared, hurt, tired, or incapable.
Be truthful and admit your sins.
Stand and live with honesty and with the fact that you are a good person. Lastly, you are not blind so allow yourself to see the lies of other people.
