Choose what Jesus wants - Bro. Jethro

A parish lenten recollection was held as a part of the pilgrimage at Mary Help of Christian Seminary at Pangasinan last Saturday.

Brother Jethro Jansen Natividad, a seminarian in our parish, gave the talk. He talked about the three requirements that Jesus gave to be his disciple. Forget yourself, carry your own cross and obey Jesus. That is what you have to do to be his disciple.

Forgetting yourself means choosing to do what Jesus wants. This is where whenever you make a decision, you must always ask yourself “what would Jesus do?” rather than “what would I do?”. Forgetting yourself is also seeing yourself according to God’s eyes.

Second, carrying of our own cross signifies that we accept our sufferings as a part of our life. Brother Jethro reminded us that Jesus is the one who is going to have a meaning to each struggle that we have.

If we are going to offer our sufferings to God, it will be a blessing. Lastly, anyone who is following Jesus will have peace in their life and whoever who is following Jesus, is fighting because of Jesus.
