Father Dominic Denina and Fr. Bim Perfecto presided two triduum masses in preparation for the Feast of the Holy Family.
Father Dominic emphasized on his homily that Christmas is about Family. It is the season of colors, joy, love, and most of all, family. As we grow older, Christmas gets sadder. This is because the family members in the house gets fewer. People realize that they can celebrate Christmas with their friends, office mate, or alone. But despite the different possibilities to celebrate Christmas, we should keep in mind that we should spend it with our family. Although the real meaning of Christmas is celebrating the birth of Jesus, it is important to spend it as a family. This is why our house is called tahanan. Because whenever we are devastated, sad, or lonely, we can always go there and have our family members saying "tahan na, anak"
Father Bim centered his homily about marriage. He talked about the three problems that the youth answered in the survey about not getting married in the church. The first problem is that. The youth sees their parents having frequent arguments. The youth's role model are their parents that is why they should not witness their parents arguing. Another problem is that they perceive marriage in the church expensive. But in reality, it does not require much money to get married in the church, the preparation for the wedding is what makes it expensive. The last problem is that they can see in the news the different scandals that the priests face.
He reiterated three important things that should happen inside a family: plan, talk and follow. The Holy Family is the role model we should follow because we witnessed in them the true meaning of being a family.
