A mass was held to celebrate The Feast of Christ the King and the Renewal of Vows of the Parish Workers led by Fr. Ferdinand Delatado. He reminded us as to why we look up to Christ as a king. Fr. Ferdinand mentioned that Christ didn't have a thousands of army. He never wore a golden crown, he even had the one with thorns, he didn't have a palace, he was even born in a manger, and when he died, he was placed in a borrowed grave. Despite this fact, we honor Christ as a king not because of his wealth but because of the love he showed and has given us. This same love for his people motivated him to offer his life for our salvation. He also accepted all the mocks and judge of the people around him. He was continuously asked, if he was really the Messiah then he should have saved his self. The people despised and shamed Christ. Fr. Ferdinand correlated this with our experiences as a human. We have experienced embarrassment once in our lives. It is natural to get scolded and reminded with our wrongdoings because this is where a person becomes better. Sometimes we make mistakes and get embarrassed because of it, but from each of these mistakes, we can learn something out of it. To end his homily, Fr. Ferdinand reminded the church workers not to frown when being scolded. He told them about how necessary it is as the father of the parish. He said that we needed to be reminded and reproach because it is his role and responsibility to guide us. He ended his homily with a expressed gratitude to the workers who volunteers and sacrifices their time and money for their love to God and to serve the parish and its people.
