Celebrate the Celebrant, not the celebration

Updated: Jan 4

Celebrating Christmas has been a rich part of Filipino culture, especially for the Catholics. However, it is saddening to see that many people forget the true essence of the day; the birth of Jesus.

"He is our Lord and our Saviour, the Center of our lives," Rev. Fr. Gerald Metal.

The Christmas Eve Mass was concelebrated by Rev. Fr. Fernando Cornejo and the homily was shared by Rev. Fr. Gerald Metal. In his sharing, he warned everyone about not being able to see Jesus, for they are only focused on themselves.

"Celebrate the celebrant before the celebration," he added.

Fr. Gerald also comforted those who felt alone, neglected, and empty during the holidays and asked them to give the Lord a chance.

"If you feel insignificant, then more na sinasabi ng Panginoon na mahalaga ka sa akin," he said.

This is why, the Christmas season is the opportunity for a person to be thankful to the community they are surrounded in, for they were the instruments used by God in giving Jesus to their hearts.

"Magiging makabuluhan ang pasko kung mayroong pagmamahalan, pagbibigayan, at pagpapatawaran. Panahon ito ng pagkakasundo," he ended.
